How the PP Root setup works

The handset is supplied with its bootloader locked. PP Root uses an app-based Samsung rooting method derived from DFRoot. Preparation uses the compatible device and firmware route; it does not use a conventional Magisk boot-image installation. The model and firmware are checked during preparation and root access is checked before dispatch.

After a full power-on or restart, unlock the phone and allow about 90 seconds, up to two minutes, before opening root apps. Startup behaviour depends on the supplied PP Root settings and Android permissions. Root is restored after startup rather than being permanently present from the moment the phone powers on. Use KernelSU to grant or revoke individual apps' root access.

Firmware updates and app compatibility

This setup depends on compatible Samsung firmware. Contact PrivacyPortal before installing Samsung firmware, security or Google Play system updates, resetting the device or changing root components. An update can remove root access or prevent this method from working. Do not assume future Android versions or firmware builds will support the same setup.

Root changes Android's security model. Banking, payment, streaming, work-profile, anti-cheat and other security-sensitive apps can restrict use or stop working, and compatibility can change. No universal banking-app, Play Integrity, Samsung Wallet, Secure Folder or third-party app compatibility is promised. Only grant root to apps you trust.
