Software and setup choices

• Installed OS: DerpFest Android for Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G. The operating system is prepared for the exact supported hardware target, replacing the manufacturer’s standard Android interface.
• Root choices: Magisk / KernelSU / APatch / No-Root (Keep De-Googled). The requested manager must support this device’s kernel and the selected ROM build; we confirm compatibility before preparation.
• Google apps: choose Keep de-Googled or Install Google apps where enabled in the product options. On this listing, No-Root (Keep De-Googled) also selects the Google-free setup. A Google-free request requires a compatible build; it is not fulfilled by simply hiding Google apps on a bundled-GApps image. If the requested build cannot be prepared, we contact you before substitution.

Bootloader state

The bootloader remains unlocked with this custom-ROM configuration. Choosing No Root does not relock it. Do not relock the bootloader unless the project explicitly documents a safe procedure for the exact signed build and device.

Compatibility to check before ordering

• Manufacturer camera processing, eSIM, calling features, DRM playback and accessories can behave differently from stock firmware. Check any essential feature against the linked device guide; a hardware feature in the specification is not proof that the ROM implements it.
• Banking, payment, work-profile, streaming and game apps may reject a modified device or depend on Google services. Play Integrity, DRM quality and future app compatibility are not guaranteed by root, a custom ROM or a bootloader setting.

Updates and support

The project’s updater record for sky reviewed on 28 September 2026 identifies v16.0 dated 2025-08-29. This identifies the published build, not a promise of continuing monthly updates.

Use the installed ROM’s updater only for a compatible same-device release. Read the maintainer’s instructions before changing Android versions or switching between Google-free and Google-apps builds; a clean flash and data wipe may be required. Check root-manager and kernel compatibility before updating.

• Battery capacity above is the original hardware specification, not a measurement of the supplied unit’s battery health. Used batteries can have reduced capacity.
