How to test GrapheneOS battery life on your Pixel
Use this controlled test before installing optimisation modules or changing many settings.
- Back up important data. Copy photos, recovery codes and app exports somewhere separate from the phone.
- Install pending updates. Update GrapheneOS and apps through their normal stores, then restart the phone.
- Charge the phone fully. Leave it connected for about 20 minutes after it reaches 100%, then unplug it.
- Record the starting state. Note brightness, network type, enabled profiles and whether sandboxed Google Play is installed.
- Use the phone normally for one day. Do not install new apps or change power settings during this pass.
- Open the battery-use screen. In Settings, inspect system and per-app use since the full charge. Menu wording can vary by release.
- Run an overnight control. Start near the same charge level and leave the phone idle on stable Wi-Fi.

Keep Google Play only in profiles that need it. Check Google Play services, the Play Store and dependent apps as separate entries. Do not disable random components from an old debloat list. Such lists can break notifications, updates and app compatibility.
How Android idle power management works
When a phone sits still with its screen off, Android can defer background jobs and network work. This mechanism is called Doze. App Standby also limits apps that have not been used recently.
